Part Forty-four

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory (I)

“Be still and know that I am God”,
I hear our Father say;
“Through whirling, swirling mass confusion,
I am still The Way!”

The Red Sea looms before you
With its waters deep and wide,
While chariots of Egypt
With vengeance toward you ride.

The Way before you firmly blocked,
The Way behind is pressing
With thund’rous hoofbeats pounding loudly
Where is Yahweh’s Blessing?

Has He now forsaken you
To this bloody end?
Is there no Deliverer, like Moses,
He will send?

Just then a blazing, fiery pillar
Suddenly appears!
It forms a barricade to stay
The threat’ning charioteers!

And then you hear a rumbling roar,
You turn your head to see
The waters of the sea are parting-
Standing regally!

Open is The Way for you
To flee upon dry ground;
Where once there was no way at all,
The Way has now been found!

But still the The Way before you
Is a grievous test of faith,
For none has ever seen the likes
Of such an aweful *wraith!

(*Dict. “An apparition, specter;
insubstantial appearance.”)

Perhaps the walls of water
To your left and to your right
Will suddenly descend upon you
Drowning you this night!

But then you reach the other side
You’re surely safe at last!
But then, once more, you hear the noise
Of chariots coming fast!

Has God now loosed your enemy
To follow on dry ground?
The Way you thought was just for you
Your enemy has found!

But wait, what now is happening?
The waters are returning!
They’re crashing down on horse and man
All chariots are churning!

What sort of God can do such things?
Who’s known such great reward?
You’ve surely seen the Coming
Of the Glory of the Lord!!

Be thankful, then give thanks still more!
For all the Lord has done;
Above all else, there is none else,
One God; yes, only ONE!

But even more, be thankful for
The Goodness of our God!
Who parts the waters of this life
That we may safely trod...

The Pathway to His Kingdom
As a part of His great Story!
How wonderful that we are called
To share His endless Glory!

So bow your heads, and lift your hands
On this Thanksgiving Day,
Sing praises to our heavenly King
The Life, The Truth, The Way!!
