Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory (Q)

               During the impassioned days following 9/11/01, many Americans are singing the anthem, America the Beautiful- but usually we only hear the first verse. The Holy Spirit has impressed us to present the entire text of this anointed poem as it was penned by Katherine Lee Bates while she stood atop a Colorado mountain peak to behold a panorama of God’s glorious Creation! In years to come, the Lord would lead a certain pastor to unite these anointed lyrics to the blessed melody we sing today that was composed by Samuel A. Ward. This prayer of intercession for our nation was written in a matter of minutes on that mountaintop and was never revised. Read prayerfully.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America! God shed His Grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America! God mend thine every flaw!
Confirm thy soul in self-control
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife;
Who, more than self, their country loved
And Mercy more than life!

America! America! May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be Nobleness
And every gain, Divine!!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years,
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears.

America! America! God shed His Grace on thee!
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Clearly our nation has strayed far from this prophetic plea, but God has kindled a fire in the hearts of a people that are being birthed as sons of glory! These kings and priestly intercessors will usher in the King of kings to rule and reign over His universe in Love and Truth!
