ONE DESIRE

(Based on Ps 27:4)

What does it mean, as the Psalmist once said,
For a man to have just “ONE DESIRE”?
It means to have every last lust rooted out
And consumed by the great Holy Fire!

It means now and forever to ask for no less
Than the best that our God can afford;
Just “to live out the rest of the days of our lives
In the wonderful House of the Lord”!!

Where we shall do nothing but “gaze at His Beauty”
Through eyes of a heart circumcised;
And “inquire in His Temple” of things yet untold
With a mind that is now crucified!

Just to ponder and reason, to chew and digest,
To reflect and to probe and explore;
To examine, investigate, seek and survey,
To research and yet search for still more!!

To uncover the endless expanse of Your love;
And be humbled by all that we find;
To observe and rejoice over all that we see,
As ones sighted, who once were so blind!

To become what we see; to be all that You are;
To hold Pearls of great price in our hand;
To hear Songs of the Shepherd that lull us to peace;
With a message we now understand!!

To able to mirror the Christ in our lives
In His radiant, excellent Light,
To be seen as HE IS, in a world of gross darkness;
As Daystars that transform the night!

To be rays of Redemption and beacons of Hope
In a Sunshine of Righteousness beaming;
O, such glories are almost too much to imagine,
Like fancies of one who is dreaming!

Yet our hearts would require this ONE pure desire,
Just this ONE sweet and sinless desire:
That the Flame of Your Love would consume us above
Till we’re “one” with Your
